International Women’s Day celebrates the women shaping the technology that keeps our economies moving. In transport and logistics, margins are tight and pressure is constant. Diverse, women led perspectives bring fresh thinking to transport technology. Efficiency and empathy work alongside each other, leading to software products that give customers a competitive advantage.
The transport industry has always been about getting the right load to the right place, at the right time. Safely and profitably. Today, efficient job management runs on software, data and automation.
In a traditionally male-dominated industry, we’re shining a spotlight on three women behind this software at MyTrucking – and the impact it’s having on the customer experience.
Spotlight #1. Product: Building the right things for our customers
Product and development teams bridge the gap between the human and the screen.
Siobhan Morton, MyTrucking’s Product Manager, listens to customers, hearing not only what they do, but the pressures they’re under too. This leads to a product built for real life, that makes every transport job easier.
Siobhan adds:
“It’s a privilege to get insights into our customers successes and challenges. Seeing how they use our products to support their business is vital. It helps us identify ways to improve, so our customers can get even more value from MyTrucking.
I love getting feedback from customers, especially from dispatchers and drivers, and it’s so cool seeing customer’s trucks out in the wild.”
As technology continues to evolve, the industry keeps finding new ways to use it, and Siobhan has witnessed this from both perspectives.
“Being raised down South means that I was pretty used to seeing trucks on the road (especially those carrying stock!), but since being at MyTrucking, I’ve been able to see firsthand the work that goes on behind the scenes.
The adoption of technology, especially on the dispatch side, has changed the game – and it’s especially cool to see the many women in roles who keep the trucks – and the industry – moving.”
Spotlight #2. Customer support: Simple, practical guidance
Customer support and onboarding is the crucial next step in bringing any new system to life inside a business.
Ame Moates, MyTrucking’s Customer Support Specialist, often hears the concerns of family businesses taking their first step away from paper. She turns those concerns into targeted training, practical support, and clear feedback for the product team.
“Having worked in the industry myself, I understand the pressure and fast-paced nature of logistics. There often isn’t time to explore new systems or make full use of existing ones.”
Ame enjoys empowering customers through her support. This hands-on approach helps businesses overcome hesitation with new technology.
“I enjoy breaking down our product into simple, practical steps, and my goal is to help customers feel confident and empowered using the features we provide.”
Spotlight #3. Marketing and community: Visibility builds belonging
How we talk about transport technology shapes who feels welcome in the sector and who chooses to use a product. Crystal Cranshaw, MyTrucking’s Marketing Coordinator – Team Lead, works on campaigns that feature diverse stories of real dispatchers and drivers.
“I’ve worked across different parts of the business, from sales and support through to marketing, and in every space, I’ve seen that it’s often women driving the big changes.
They’re the ones backing their teams, supporting the business, embracing tech that makes life easier for everyone, and helping to move their business and industry forward.”
Crystal finds fulfilment in her role, and shares:
“Highlighting women’s stories through my work is a privilege, because women are already leading change across the transport industry and should be celebrated in those roles that deliver huge value.”
Across product, customer support and marketing, Siobhan, Ame and Crystal show how diverse teams keep freight moving in smarter, more human ways. This International Women’s Day, we celebrate their leadership and the many women in transport who are shaping a more inclusive future for the industry.
