Here’s the latest update from MyTrucking’s Australian Business Development Manager, Nikola, with insights from across the transport industry. From a record-breaking harvest to the ongoing challenges of driver shortages, Nik shares all on what’s happening on the ground in Australia.
The 2025 harvest season is in full swing! Bulk transporters from Victoria are heading north into Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales to keep grain on the move.
Conversations across Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia point to a bumper season. The 2025–26 winter crop is expected to reach around 62 million tonnes! That makes it the third largest on record and a clear sign of strength in the industry.
With more freight to move, operators are preparing for a busy few months ahead.
Tackling Costs and Finding Simpler Systems
Even when work is plentiful, cost pressures are never far away. Rising operational expenses, and the shortage of skilled drivers, continue to shape conversations in the industry.
Drivers are being more selective about where and when they work. Operators are needing to offer competitive pay and better conditions to keep their teams on board.
Another topic getting more attention is the choice of transport management software.
Many operators are reassessing their systems in search of a simpler, more affordable options. They’re looking for ones that saves time and reduce admin, rather than complicating it further. MyTrucking fits that need perfectly. It offers an easy-to-use platform that keeps jobs, invoices and compliance sorted (and without the high price tag!).
Growing Momentum Across Australia
Across Australia, more transporters are discovering how much easier business can be when they switch to modern, straightforward tools. The MyTrucking team in Australia continues to grow its customer base and is now just a handful of wins away from overtaking New Zealand! An exciting milestone we’re aiming to reach by the end of 2025.
Staying Connected with the Industry
The team has also been busy attending key industry events, such as the NatRoads Conference, LRTAV conference in Shepparton, and LBRCA in Canberrra. These events provide valuable opportunities to connect with operators, share stories and hear firsthand what’s happening out on the road.
And in fun personal news, our Australian BDM, Nikola, is officially working towards her truck licence after getting behind the wheel of a Kenworth. Keep an eye on our socials to follow her journey as she takes on the trucking life firsthand!
