This May, our very own Nat Beckham has laced up her running shoes for a cause that’s deeply personal.
As MyTrucking’s New Zealand Business Development Manager, Nat is one of the familiar faces behind our demos and customer visits. But this month she’s taken on a different kind of challenge, raising funds and awareness for The Heart Foundation.
Whether it’s cheering her on, donating, or simply following her progress, our MyTrucking team has rallied behind Nat throughout the month.
Here’s the story behind Nat’s running challenge.
Supporting a cause that impacts so many
Taking part in MyMarathon, a nationwide initiative from 1–31 May, Nat is raising funds and awareness across the month. It’s an effort that combines fitness, community, and a cause close to the hearts of many Kiwis.
The Heart Foundation plays a critical role in funding life-saving research, supporting heart health education, and improving outcomes for people across New Zealand.
Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death in New Zealand, affecting 1 in 3 Kiwis. For many, it’s not just a statistic, it’s something that has touched their families, friends, or communities.
Nat’s “why”
For Nat, supporting the Heart Foundation isn’t new, it’s something that’s been part of her life for years.
“I have them to thank for the lifesaving technology that allowed me to grow up with a mum… so I guess I supported them because it was personal for me.”
That personal connection became even stronger a few years ago, when Nat’s niece was told she needed open heart surgery.
Around that time, Nat discovered MyMarathon and found that running became more than just exercise.
“It was a great way to manage the worry about the upcoming surgery and I also realised it’s not just personal to me, it’s the single biggest killer of Kiwis.”
Despite being sidelined last year with a ruptured Achilles, Nat is back running again in 2026 ready to take on new challenges and continue raising awareness.
“The support has been amazing… people kept donating, so I kept running!”
Nat is aiming to run 84km this May and raise $900 for The Heart Foundation. At the time of writing this, Nat has already run 97km and raised $427, an amazing effort before the month is even over!
More than just a run
Nat’s challenge is a great example of how personal values and company values can align.
At MyTrucking, we believe our people are at the heart of everything we do. This extends beyond the workplace too. We’re incredibly proud to support Nat’s efforts and celebrate the commitment she’s shown, both in her role and for the wider community.
And a final word from Nat:
“This is clearly a charity close to everyone’s heart, pun intended!”
