New Zealand’s transport sector continues to see significant progress in digital adoption, driven by collaboration between technology providers.
MyTrucking, a transport management software company founded in rural New Zealand, reports that partnerships such as its ongoing integration with Xero are delivering practical benefits for local businesses in the sector.
Collaboration focus
According to Sara Orsborn, Co-Founder and Marketing Director of MyTrucking, the most effective results do not come from standalone solutions. She notes the importance of technology companies engaging with customers and each other in order to address operational challenges.
“No single app solves every problem on its own. The best outcomes for businesses come when tech companies listen to their customers, then connect with each other to meet real needs,” said Sara Orsborn, Co-Founder and Marketing Director, MyTrucking.
The MyTrucking-Xero partnership, which saw the company recognised as a featured app by Xero, continues to streamline administrative tasks for transport operators in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK.
Orsborn emphasised that the integration is the result of building relationships and focussing on simplifying workload in the industry.
Customer impact
Integration with the Xero accounting platform has changed practices for many of MyTrucking’s users.
The company states that 70% of its customers now use Xero, a figure reflecting a trend away from traditional accounting solutions.
The system allows for automatic attachment of images, dockets, and signatures to invoices, creating a single point of reference for required documentation.
Eliza from B&R Plant Hire in Victoria, Australia cited time savings as a tangible benefit. “The speed of time to chase up a query has been a big one and saving time in our daily lives. I would spend 3-4 days a week checking dockets and getting things ready to hand to the CFO to get invoices out on a Friday. Now I’m spending maybe one day a week and invoices go out on a Monday afternoon, so much quicker!”
MyTrucking has been named to Xero’s featured app collection three times, an accolade the company attributes to practical functionality and positive reception from both users and the Xero team.
Market expansion
MyTrucking’s expansion continues with the official launch of its platform in the UK. Orsborn highlighted the importance of adapting solutions to regional requirements and collaborating with local providers.
“Every region’s operators face unique challenges. As we roll out into the UK, we’re again focused on thoughtful connection, working closely alongside local providers, and making our integration with Xero, and others, work the way they need for local UK hauliers,” said Orsborn.
The co-founders recently visited England, Scotland, and Wales, meeting with hauliers to further shape the platform’s development in line with local feedback. Word-of-mouth recommendations remain a main driver of new business across markets, reinforcing trust and the relevance of tailored solutions.
Technology trends
Increasing technology adoption across the sector is reflected in the uptake of MyTrucking’s digital tools.
More than 5,000 drivers now use the company’s Driver App. In response to operator demand for greater clarity around returns, a new return-on-investment calculator has been rolled out, providing users with data to inform purchasing decisions.
“Investing in new technology always comes with big questions. The ROI calculator lets operators map out the real savings and gains they can expect from MyTrucking, before committing to trial.
